Minimum Depth
What You’ll Need to Install Blinds & Shades
Before measuring, choose between two mounting styles.

INSIDE MOUNT
Inside Mount is the most popular, and should yield the easiest installation and best look for most windows. The window must have enough window depth, which varies by product, to accommodate Inside Mount.

OUTSIDE MOUNT
Outside Mount is a great alternative for situations in which Inside Mount is not possible due to lack of window depth.
DEPTH MATTERS
A common measuring mistake is not considering the depth needed when choosing Inside Mount. Depth determines which window treatment your window can acommodate with Inside Mount and how it will look when installed..

REQUIRED MINIMUM DEPTH
Required Minimum Depth (RMD) is the minimum required to use Inside Mount

WINDOW OBSTACLES
Window Obstacles can reduce the amount of window depth available, and consumers can choose to measure in front of obstacles to window frame to account for window obstacles or choose to ignore window obstacles they feel may not be significant enough to impede the product
